Valentine’s day is just around the corner and love is well and truly in the air at Joyce Young Collections.
As Valentine’s Day is in the top five most popular dates for proposals, we wanted to do something special with our Joyce Young brides to celebrate.
We have put together some of our favourite real life love stories and hope you enjoy reading these romantic tales.
Lauren & Adam
“I will never forget one of my first thoughts when my husband, Adam, (still sounds odd!) proposed.
It was in the midst of December 2020 lockdown and we had gone out on a remote walk in the countryside. It was a little rainy and quite windy (not my favourite kind of weather!) so I was apparently not in the brightest of spirits. Adam later told me he had planned to ask me at various points along the way but he thought he’d better wait until I had cheered up a bit! When he did eventually ask, he was walking behind me talking and something in his voice made me turn around. On seeing him kneeling on the ground I confess to say one of my first thoughts was why on earth is he kneeling in the mud we’ll have to wash those jeans now! Of course this thought turned almost instantly to shock and excitement on realising that what he was actually doing was asking me to marry him. Needless to say neither of us cared about the muddy jeans after that”.

Alice & Tom
“We met in 2009 at our church in Edinburgh when I was a doe eyed student and he was a doctor up there. He’s 8 years older than I am so I thought he was old and boring and he thought I was flaky!
Fast forward 8 years to 2017 and we met again at another church in London and this time we bonded over triathlons and turned out we actually got on pretty well! We shared our first kiss in the Brixton blues kitchen not knowing we would end up living round the corner when we were married and bought a house together.
We got married in January 2020. We have a little boy called Asa who is 15 months and two Ukrainians in our ever expanding family, but the dream is to get a pet pig from the pig farm where we got engaged in 2019!”

Carli & Fraser
“Fraser and I met in the Hillhead bookclub in the Westend. We met through a friend and he took me for a drink, we actually laughed the whole time and it felt like we had known each other for years, it felt very natural.
Our relationship grew from there and we were/are both keen hill walkers. We went on many dates munro bagging all over Scotland and had weekends away and lots of adventures.
We bought our first home together only a year after meeting and the rest is history. We have been together now for 6 years. I have a step daughter, Frasers daughter, who is now 12. I met her when she was 6, we are both so close. She’s my little best friend!”

Sarah & Sam
“Our love story started very early on. I have secretly been in love with Sam since I was 11! He was the cool kid on the block and I was the girl next door. Roll on 10 years and after bumping into each other on the local train, the rest as they say, is history!
We have been married for 7 glorious years this summer. What a wedding it was – the most stunning venue, Hedsor House and my dream dress, Joyce Young’s bespoke Tiffany gown.
We are so lucky to have two wonderful boys who share Sam’s love of sports and my love of music. We enjoy travelling as a family, watching films and cooking together”.

Helena & Jamie
“I met jamie in February of 2018 while I was out with my parents in a bar in glasgow and he was out on a work night out. That night, I got into a taxi to go home with my parents and just before we set off to head home, I jumped back out the taxi and said i don’t want to go home I want to go back in and see this guy again. I knew even then that there was something special between us.
It was a chance encounter and we have been inseparable ever since.
We moved in together only 3 months later. We got engaged on the beach in La cals de mijas in Spain in june 2019. We went for a morning stroll along the beach and jamie got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so romantic and it was just the 2 of us it was a really special moment. He had also booked a lovely beach club restaurant for us to have dinner and celebrate that night.
We got married in July 2021 at Mar Hall outside in the poring rain ! It was so magical, people said it was like something out of a movie! We had to postpone our wedding by a few months due to covid but when the day came it was incredible.
We have now been together for 5 years and we love each other more and more with every day that passes”

Sarah & Shaun
“We are from the Isle of Lewis and South Uist in the Western Isles of Scotland but met in Glasgow where we both work as a builder and secondary teacher!
We have been together now over 8 years.
We got married in Dunkeld Cathedral and Dunkeld House on 7th April 2022″.
Katie & Ian
Last but definitely not least, we couldn’t leave out Katie and Ian, Joyce’s son and daughter in law.

Recently shared by Knoxland Films on TikTok, this clip has reached an astonishing 2 million views. The high spirited couple of course embraced their new found fame and enjoyed laughing at the hilarious moment all over again.
Congratulations are in order for Katie and Ian who will be welcoming the first new addition to their family in May 2023.
